Job Summary:
The Production Machine Operator will operate various machines such as the lathe, punch press, saw/shear, press brake and others, as required, to print specifications within tolerances allowed producing quality parts. This role inspects parts with precision measuring tools to ensure the parts are within ISO 9001 specifications and standards.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Operates machines such that Martin tools, products are produced according to established quality standards and timelines; produces Martin parts as requested by other departments including, but not limited to:
- Machines parts by manually setting up and adjusting tooling, as needed, to provide a quality product through the processes of turning, boring, threading, grooving, drilling, chamfering, punching, forming etc.
- Saws and shears materials to various sizes so that it can be welded, formed, punched, machined, etc. by other employees and/or departments.
- Calculates necessary machine adjustments.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and bills of materials to produce the required parts.
- Performs layout, setup and operation of machines (e.g., saws, shears, lathes, mills, drills, punch presses, press brake, deburring equipment, etc.) through the use of precision measurement tooling according to ISO 9001 standards.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations particular to the working conditions.
- Coordinates plans with other operators regarding specific jobs and instructions.
- Maintains necessary inventory of supplies and determines the most efficient and cost-effective use of materials.
- Trains new employees on use of the equipment and work procedures and guidelines, as needed.
- Performs regular inspections to maintain a consistent level of quality products conforming to ISO 9001 standards; inspects machines for proper maintenance and needed repairs and submits maintenance requests as needed; provides maintenance records and daily clean up records through a maintenance log.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One or more years experience with machines or machine drawing.
Experience with blue print reading and precision instruments.
