SUMMARY:
Be a part of our Martin Equipment work family! We are a John Deere construction equipment dealership. The Field Technician is responsible for the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of rental and customer equipment. Work is scheduled under the supervision of the Service Manager. The field technician is expected to be able to successfully complete work assignments without supervisory assistance. The field technician may seek assistance from the Service Manager on the more complex or difficult repairs. The field technician is expected to travel as necessary to reach the equipment in need of repair. The field technician must adhere to all company, government and equipment vendor safety regulations, procedures and policies. Working hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, and Saturday rotation (seasonal, as needed, relative to business needs).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Service equipment as required to avoid unnecessary repairs.
- Perform safety inspections of equipment.
- Conduct repairs of customer and rental equipment.
- Answer customer questions regarding equipment repair.
- Meet government, company and equipment vendor safety requirements for safe repair and operation of equipment and maintenance of the work area.
- Perform special projects as required to meet branch needs.
- Must be able to operate a field service truck and all equipment onboard the field service truck; and operate the customer equipment being repaired.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) to five (5) years minimum experience in repair and maintenance of hydraulic, AC and DC electrical equipment.
- Technical or trade school preferred.
- Maintain a Class A driver's license.
- Computer literacy required. Must be familiar with programs like Microsoft Outlook and work order tracking systems.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, email) are necessary.
- Must be respectful to and engaging with customers, co-workers, and manager.
- Critical thinker, uses time efficiently, operates safely, completes accurate paperwork.
- Takes pride in work and upholds the positive image that represents Martin Equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing, climbing, bending, stooping for extended periods.
- Lifting of 50 pounds or more.
- Operation of a personal computer/terminal.
- Hearing adequate to communicate by telephone and in person.
- Vision adequate to examine equipment and manuals.
- Ability to work closely with others.
- Manual dexterity.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- All required PPE is provided by Martin Equipment and includes, but is not limited to, protective glasses, gloves, and boots.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to petroleum solvents, paints and fumes (80%)
- Exposure to extreme heat or cold (50%)
- Operation of mechanical equipment.
- Working at heights (5%)
