SUMMARY:
Be a part of our Martin Equipment work family! We are a John Deere construction equipment dealership. The Sales and Finance Specialist provides administrative support for the corporate sales management team, the nine Martin Equipment locations’ sales teams, and the accounting department. The Sales and Finance Specialist will be the subject expert on our customer relationship management (CRM) tool. This position will manage the retail financing process that provides our customers with the financing of their equipment purchases through captive, third-party banks, and lending institutions with the objective of increasing market share and maximizing profit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Support the corporate sales management team and the Martin Equipment sales teams in the preparation of finance applications and contracts.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with potential and existing customers to understand their financing needs to enhance the potential to purchase equipment.
- Manage the retail financing process for customers by entering transactions into the John Deere Financial System (known as Ceres).
- Analyze sales documents and financial documents for accuracy by resolving any omissions/discrepancies before submission to accounting.
- Manage relationship with John Deere Financial and other lenders of retail financing products by formulating finance quotes with available solutions to meet customer needs and help close sales.
- Review, distribute, and train necessary personnel on active financial programs.
- Work with all finance companies to provide accurate payoff information, payment history, and special deal structure to the sales team.
- Serve as a backup for processing sales settlements, assist with month-end volumes, absences or general support.
- Own the process for Women Business Enterprise (WBE) Sales.
- Provide equipment support (process trailer sales documents, monitor telematics audits, etc.).
- Provide support for Powerplan credit accounts and collection support for various Martin client accounts.
- Attend training and sales/rental meetings as required to stay current with new equipment and sales promotions.
- Keep all sales-related documents updated and organized on shared drive (policies, processes, discount and finance bulletins, rental rates, areas of responsibility (AOR) lists, etc.).
- Provide support and training to all (CRM) users.
- Be proficient in relevant John Deere applications (Sales Center, Build and Price, MachineFinderPro, etc.).
- Organize onboarding training information for new General Managers and Sales Teams (Sales Territory Managers for Construction Equipment, Compact Construction Equipment and Integrated Grade Control Equipment (IGC/CE/CCE).
- Work with the sales team annually for John Deere Classic ticket procurement and CONEXPO-CON/AGG every 3 years.
- Help administer the sales commission process every month.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES:
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- 1 – 3 years sales and finance experience required.
- Experience within the construction industry or related field preferred.
- Customer service, administrative support and/or accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, especially MS Teams, Excel, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional lifting/pulling/pushing up to 25 pounds.
- Regular to frequent reaching and grasping, standing and walking.
- Operates general office equipment, including a phone, printer, copier, and personal computer.
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Some climbing when stairs are present.
- Hearing adequately to communicate by telephone and in person.
- Vision is adequate to operate computer and other office equipment.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Wear proper PPE where required and where indicated.
- All required PPE is provided by Martin Equipment and includes, but is not limited to, protective glasses, gloves, and boots.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Most work is performed in an office environment at a desk.
- Travel, as needed, for location visits, events or meetings.
