What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant - Training Provided position at Martin Foot and Ankle?
We are looking for dynamic professionals with an interest in helping others and a desire to learn. This position will primarily be located in our East York location with occasional travel to our other offices in Lititz, Lancaster, and Hanover as needed by the company. We will offer training to the right candidate!

- Ensure that instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready.
- Escort patients to exam rooms. Help, if necessary, on the examination chair. Prepare patients for exam. Help, if necessary with shoes and socks.
- Dispense supplies and maintain records.
- Assist doctor as needed - in office procedures such as prepare injections, x-rays, treating of patients, hard casting.
- Follow safety protocol for fluids, spills and use of PPE.
- Comply with all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Properly dispose of contaminated and disposable items; prepare infectious waste.
- Screen calls for doctors; handle calls that do not require a doctor.
- Perform lab work - cultures, and pathology.
- Educate patients about the procedures and any necessary preparations for them.
- Prepare surgical paperwork including disability form and surgery paperwork appointments with patient.
- Coordinate office hours to assist patients with required paperwork, DME dispensing, diabetic shoe fitting and education.
- Call the patients insurance company to verify surgery insurance information.
- Call patients to relay advice and instructions from doctors. Document in chart.
- Maintain equipment.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Keep exam rooms, as well as other areas of the office, clean and stocked.
- Initiate, perform, choose, and maintain patient education materials.
- Check for pre-certification, proper referrals when necessary.
- Check phone messages, document and follow up.
- Perform other tasks at the request of doctors or the operations manager.
- Assist fellow staff members when needed.
- Take and/or update patients histories, medications and obtain vitals and weight. Take accurate clinical notes, perform x-rays and other tests as needed; maintain records.
- Ordering of supplies for submission to Supply Coordinator.
Location: York, PA with travel to our other offices in Lititz, Lancaster, and Hanover as required by the company.
Hours: Availability required Monday - Friday between 6:30 am to 6:30 pm
