Landscape Designer
Reports to: Sales Manager
Summary:
The Landscape Designer is responsible for designing landscape projects with innovative and creative solutions to clients landscape design problems. This position will provide base maps, CAD plans, and take offs for design/build projects that fit with the Martin John Company standards. This position will work with the Landscape Architect and Sales staff to assure the company can achieve budgeted sales goals.

Job Duties:
- Design, measure and estimate jobs by site visits and sale person discussions
- Create the base maps for the development of the design based on existing landscape and property features
- Create innovative designs to solve client concerns and meet expectations
- Working with the production teams to ensure the schedule of work and design integrity are in line with client expectations
- Create lot calculations to provide accurate information for municipal permit requirements
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
- Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the landscape/nursery industry
- Knowledge of plant materials and hardgood materials and installation practices
- Effective communication skills – ability to communicate with internal and external clients through verbal, written, electronic, etc..
- Ability to use technology ie. Smart phones, laptops, software apps etc..
- Time management skills
- Understanding estimating and job specific gross margin requirements
- Knowledge of landscape construction materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction jobs
- Knowledge of landscape design principles
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Work Conditions:
- Driving of vehicles and other equipment as needed
- Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
- Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
- Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work to complete client deadlines
