POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Staff Nurse is an accomplished and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care and managing patient care effectively. Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor of Telemetry, this role requires a 12-hour commitment to organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing patient / family-centered care based on the Watson Model of Care. This includes understanding and accommodating the unique needs of various age groups and populations. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize the nursing process as a critical problem-solving model; anticipate and address the needs of patients and families.
- Focus nursing assessments to highlight areas of greatest need, proactively recognizing and adapting care plans based on subtle clinical changes.
- Apply knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, incorporating current research to support clinical decision-making.
- Enhance patient satisfaction through effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Establish and nurture therapeutic relationships with patients, ensuring their rights are respected throughout care.
- Employ the SBAR communication method for all transitional hand-offs.
- Document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations, following hospital policies.
- Modify interventions to enhance patient comfort addressing both physical and psychosocial factors; support patient and family engagement in recovery.
- Meet the educational needs of patients and families using appropriate resources to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Collaborate with Care Managers for proactive interdisciplinary discharge planning.
- Review physician orders, communicate patient condition changes promptly, and follow up on care plan modifications.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and document outcomes in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care (IPOC).
- Utilize patient classification standards according to established protocols.
- Guide, supervise, orienteer, and evaluate other nursing staff, ensuring proper assessments are conducted.
- Maintain a professional appearance, consistent with dress codes and proper identification protocols.
- Ensure a safe, clean environment that adheres to regulatory standards, including Patient Safety Goals.
- Contribute to the implementation of the unit-specific Quality and Performance Improvement Plan by completing monitoring forms and reporting findings.
