Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg Tele Float Pool is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a telemetry setting. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' conditions, document their care, and adhere to hospital protocols and standards.
- Develop and maintain a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues using the SBAR method.
- Perform documentation of patient care, including assessment, interdisciplinary plan of care, implementation, evaluation, and the Watson Model of Care.
- Anticipate variables affecting patient comfort and alter physical and psychosocial interventions accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with Care Managers to coordinate interdisciplinary discharge planning.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and document outcomes.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; Associate's degree or diploma in Nursing acceptable.
- Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience, with 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care experience preferred.
- Current California Nursing license required.
- Basic EKG competence required.
- Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing and Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) desirable.
- Basic computer skills and Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire.
