If you are interested please apply online and send your resume to marismartinez@mlkch.Reporting to the Central Staffing Nurse Manager, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction for hospital personnel on duty and has a 12 hour shift accountability for the clinical practice of Nursing and the delivery of patient care throughout the hospital, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness. In the absence of Leadership or during off hours, and weekends the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for administrative decision making process. This role encompasses : supervision of staff; continuous assessment and evaluation of the delivery of patient care and clinical practice; compliance with regulatory and professional standards; improvement of quality, service levels, safety, and customer satisfaction; Community Hospital. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities. The Watson Model of Care is utilized throughout the delivery system of care services.
Is a role model for the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort when interacting with patients, family, subordinates and colleagues. Resource person for location, interpretation and compliance of Hospital Policies & Procedures, The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the California Department of Health Services (DHS) requirements and regulations. Ensures compliance performance of all staff.
Operationalizes human resource policies to include credentials compliance, orienting, evaluating, coaching / counseling, disciplining and providing feedback to Directors on staff performance.
Oversees agency employees to include the following : compliance with all hospital policies and procedures and regulatory requirements; assures agency employees are evaluated during their first shift at the hospital.
Participates as appropriate in the Quality and Performance Improvement Plans.
Monitors the quality and delivery of patient care and supports excellence in Nursing practice and ensures that our Watson Model of care is utilized throughout the delivery system of care services. Ensures age-specific and population specific awareness in patient / family care and interaction.
Organizes and directs work flow, solves intra and interdepartmental problems that inhibit work flow and quality, motivates employees to optimal performance, and serves as a resource to staff for clinical, ethical or systems issues.
Collaborates with Care Management in planning for admissions; discharges and / or inter facility and intra facility transfers of patients. Also, supports the Emergency Department Care Manager and Social Worker during off-hours.
Acts as patient care liaison with the Medical Staff.
Makes rounds to all units at least twice a shift and as necessary.
Responds to all Codes, and takes an active role in CPR and facilitates ICU transfers, as needed.
Serves as the resource person for Ancillary Departments during off hours ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Utilizes communication methodologies to ensure supervision provided is based on most current information.
Communicates concerns to Directors (clinical and non-clinical) and / or Risk Management. Communicates pertinent information in 24 hour report to Care Management Director / Designes and to the daily Director on Supervisory Assignment.
Evaluates and communicates need for EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT after consulting with Emergency Services Medical Director and Administrator on call.
Bachelor of Sciences degree in nursing (individuals hired without a BSN will be required to complete a degree program within 5 years of their hire date). Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice; Maintain Current California Nursing license and have basic knowledge of staffing patterns
Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish) Basic computer skills
