Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for an Architect or Engineer to join the Building Enclosure team in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This position will focus on providing forensic investigation for litigation support of building enclosure projects. Work will include meeting with attorney clients, developing expert witness reports, and providing expert witness testimony as a building enclosure expert. Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards and the ability to formulate appropriate conclusions to the conditions encountered during investigation are required skills. Candidates with testifying experience are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to manage and oversee field investigations, non-destructive testing, hygrothermal analysis, development of reports and repair documents, and construction administration services. Projects will necessitate a balance between in-office design time and on-site evaluation time. Our expert witness projects are typically located in the Rocky Mountain Region but can sometimes take us nationally, offering some opportunity to travel. The position will require interactions with clients, including lawyers, building owners, and contractors along with opportunities for marketing activities.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and performs forensic investigations with in-house staff and clients
- Writes technical and expert witness reports
- Supports attorney clients during depositions, mediations, and trials as needed
- Communicates schedule and technical information to clients, other experts, and contractors
- Manages own work and that of others working on their projects
- Is capable of developing design recommendations for enclosure projects.
- Follows project specific QA/QC plans
- Assembles construction drawings
- Writes and edits specifications
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering or Architecture.
- Licensed Architect or Engineer in the state of Colorado.
- Past expert witness testimony and/or deposition experience
- Demonstrated creativity and technical ability consistent with essential duties listed above.
- A licensed Architect or Engineer with a minimum of 12 years of experience working as an architect or engineer.
- Strong knowledge of architectural and waterproofing systems for common building types and hygrothermal modeling techniques
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A licensed Architect or Engineer with a minimum of 20 years of experience working as an architect or engineer.
- Skills to investigate, analyze, design, coordinate, model, and document forensic projects.
- Able to coordinate work and manage staff, with strong communication skills, to effectively accomplish projects.
- Ability to travel for site visits, primarily local to the Denver area and occasionally out-of-state.
- Able to effectively meet deadlines and produce expert witness reports on or under the established project budget.
- Self-motivated to develop expert capabilities and engage new clients.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to continued professional growth.
- Demonstrates a proficiency to solve complex problems with limited oversight and direction.
