Summary: As a member of the Martin's Family, the Cash Application Representative I's primary responsibility is to identify and allocate payments and ensure all cash is distributed accurately in a timely manner for routine accounts by performing the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes electronic and manual remittance transactions for accounts in a timely manner .
- Enters adjustments to accounts .
- Researches missing or misapplied payments.
- Identifies posting discrepancies and works with Deposit and Payment Posting team to resolve.
- Communicates professionally with internal and external customers .
- Performs research to resolve customer inquiries relating to application.
- Shares documentation and communication on discrepancies identified while applying with deduction partner.
- Audits daily application activity to ensure system integrity.
- Maintains electronic files in accordance with standard file naming convention.
- Scans and files .

Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or
- Three to twelve months related experience and/or training in a general accounting environment ; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present and communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to identify and solve routine problems using variables in standardized situations. Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel software a plus.
- Ability to type required.
- Ability to operate 10-key calculator keypad required.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently.
- Works well in team environment.
- High attention to detail.
- Organizational skills .
