Summary: As a member of the Martin’s family, the Small Mix Operator is responsible for creating product with our famous extraordinary quality by carefully setting up, monitoring, and adjusting machines that prepare the dough. Embraces a mindset of thorough planning and continuous improvement by recognizing and adjusting to the fluctuating needs of our customers. Accepts responsibility for moving the company towards being an industry leader in food safety.
- Maintains sufficient supply of mix for production needs.
- Reads amount of ingredients from recipe and prepare accordingly.
- Accurately weighs ingredients and prepares them for mixing.
- Loads ingredients into mixing machine hopper from bags, tables, scales, handtrucks, or shelving.
- Operates machine until mixture reaches desired consistency, and turns lever to unload mixture into container. Manually scoop and sweep remaining mix into container.
- Tends automatic mixing machine.
- Removes mixture from mixer and places mixture in storage bins and accurately labels bins.
- Follows safety regulations.
- Performs lockout/tagout procedures designated for the equipment.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain clean work area.
- Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED;
- Related experience in baking or manufacturing industries
- Prior Electric Pallet Jack & Sit-down Forklift Experience Required.

- Ability to operate or learn to operate machinery and equipment
- Ability to pass medical evaluations to use a respirator
- Work at heights of up to 28 feet.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for several hours at a time. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. Ability to walk, sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The temperature in the production area may be affected by outside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
