Job Summary: Decant and deliver component parts, as per decanting/delivery instructions, in order to supply the Production Department with the components they need to meet our production schedules.
Major Accountabilities:
- Prioritize work load to ensure strict targets and tight deadlines are met.
- Physical able to drive a tugger up to 8 hours on a daily basis.
- Able to navigate predetermined route with up to 4 Mother Carts for distribution to work cells.
- Manage WIP storage to ensure product is maintained based on priority of production.
- Adhere to material identification of all bins/totes as per work instruction.
- Pack parts as per work instruction; ensure the correct part numbers are being packed into the correct containers and put in the correct slots on the child cart.
- Add/ remove product as per scan to location procedure, as required
- Escalate all Quality and part shortage concerns to Supervisor/Leadhand immediately.
- Expected to abide by 3S standards; maintain and organize work area for a smooth and efficient workplace.
- Ensure the safe operation of tugger at all times; abide by safety training and regulations.
- Complete the necessary documentation; tugger checklist/Bin Inspection checklist/Hanger checklist.
- Escalate all quality and part shortage concerns to Supervisor/ Leadhand immediately.
- Ensure all work in process (decanting) is done in the designated area.
- Responsible for loading the child carts into the mother cart after decanting the component parts.
- Responsible for delivering the component to the machines at the correct locations once decanting is completed.
- Will need to participate in Physical Inventories as needed
- Quantitative Measurables:
- Able to complete 7-8 routes per day
- Able to move up to 96 Daughter carts daily
- Pack approximately 4000 to 4500 small parts or 2000 to 2500 large parts (or a combination of both) per shift
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c))
- Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 to 4 years forklift experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
- Prior Tugger training is an asset; will obtain internal certification.
- Ability to follow well defined procedures.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to use computer inventory system, CMS experience is an asset.
- Good communicator (both oral and written).
- Minimum 18 24 months experience in a general labor position.
- Capable of carrying out standardized procedures.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001/ IATF 1649 and customer specific requirements
