We started with pastries handmade by Lois and Lloyd Martin inside of a garage and we have boomed into a multi-facility company where our many products are produced by machines and shipped domestically and internationally. Summary: As a member of the Martin’s family, the Engineering Project Manager is primarily responsible for planning, directing, executing and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.  The Project Manager is a professional, who has working knowledge of the technical details of managing projects including human resources, project scope, time, quality, cost, risk, procurement and communication; who embraces a mindset of thorough planning and continuous improvement, who is rigorously dedicated to extraordinary quality and customer service, who continuously strive to improve communication channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  

  • Directs and manages project development from beginning to end.  

  • Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.  

  • Develops full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.  

  • Communicates openly and effectively the  project expectations to team members and stakeholders timely.  

  • Estimate s  the resources and  human resources needed to achieve project goals.  

  • Drafts and submits budget proposals, and recommends  subsequent budget changes where necessary.  

  • Where required, negotiates with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.  

  • Determines and assesses  need for additional staff and/or consultants and makes the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.  

  • Sets and continually manage s  project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.  

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.  

  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.  

  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.  

  • Plans and tracks project milestones and deliverables.  

  • Develops  and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation,  and  presentations.  

  • Determine s  the frequency and content of status reports from the project team,   analyze s  results, and troubleshoot s  problem areas.  

  • Proactively manage s  change in project scope, identifies  potential crises, and devises contingency plans.  

  • Defines project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.  

  • Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.  

  • Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.  

  • Conducts project post mortems and creates a recommendations report.  Allows open dialogue  in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.  

  • Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.  

  • Adheres to , reports,  and  enforces safety, food safety,  quality,  and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.  

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:      

  • Bachelor 's degree (B. S.)  in Engineering  

  • Five  years  related experience .  

Language Skills :      

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  

Mathematical Skills :    

Demonstrates abilities in the following areas; applies mathematical concepts such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus,  and statistics ; applies knowledge of prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and mechanical or electrical processes.  

Reasoning Ability:    

Demonstrates abilities in the following areas; uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusion or approaches to problems; application of general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers to questions posed; interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions; arranges things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.  

 

Computer Skills:      

  • Proficient in  Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and  PowerPoint .  

  • CAD software .  

  • Project management software .  

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  

  • Valid passport book or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire.  

Other  Knowledge,  Skills and Abilities:      

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic thinking, resource allocation, leadership techniques, human resource modeling, and production methods and coordination of people and  resources.       

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.  In addition, they frequently will be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear, crouching, squatting, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, pushing and pulling, bending, kneeling and crawling. They must have the ability work at heights as required. They must possess the dexterity and coordination to work with mechanical tools / equipment and be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and in environments that may involve exposure to noise, dust, or chemicals.  The employee will be frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually  quiet to loud depending on location of office or production plant .   T he employee  can be  exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; hazardous materials; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The temperature in the production area is may be impacted by outside weather conditions.
