ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP OR LINE OF AUTHORITY:
Directly responsible to Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required.
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems.
- Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred.
- Reliability, punctuality, ability to take direction, complete assigned tasks and take pride in the school facility being clean, safe and secure.

JOB SUMMARY:
Successful experience and demonstrated ability in custodial work. Assists in sanitation control and checks safety hazards. Receives supervision from Building Principal. Supervise Junior Custodians assigned to building.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works closely with the building principal in the preparation of the annual custodial budget; contribute to the development of a 3-5 year capital budget plan.
- Reports needs for major repairs to building principal.
- Makes sure the custodian’s area and supply rooms are neat and orderly; orders supplies.
- Assists with removing snow from entrances and sidewalks.
- Assists in control of sanitation.
- Working knowledge and experience in minor maintenance repair work, which also includes painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cleaning.
- Assists in checking school for safety hazards and reports any deficiency.
- Working knowledge and experience in the operation of building systems; HVAC systems, boilers, univents, electrical, plumbing and custodial equipment.
- Plan work schedules for fair distribution of custodial duties during regular school hours as well as vacation periods in order to maximize production of custodial crews.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in a written manner; demonstrate ability to work well with the general public.
- Maintains building and grounds security in the building each day.
- Other duties that may be assigned by Building Principal and/or Assistant Superintendent for Business & Finance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
- Previous custodial or maintenance experience
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems.
- Ability to assist in keeping the school clean and orderly.
- Able to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
