What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician - Service Truck position at Marubeni Group Companies?
The Service Technician is a member of the PLM’s growing Maintenance Program, which delivers industry-leading maintenance and repair services to customers operating in the cold supply chain. The Service Technician is responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance on the refrigeration unit and DOT inspections on class 8 semi-trailers. In addition, the Technician will perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic diagnostics, and other maintenance services at customer sites. The Service Technician will be a key contributor in PLM’s model of continuous improvement to ensure the highest level of performance and customer satisfaction.
OBJECTIVE STATEMENT
Success in this role is measured by customer satisfaction with the PLM Maintenance Program and quality workmanship of the maintenance services performed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide PLM’s top customer accounts with the highest level of maintenance services.
Deliver outstanding customer service, communicate with on-site personnel on maintenance activities, and comply with customer site requirements.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on several types of equipment including, but not limited to the following: electrical, brake, TRU, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, etc.
Inspect and test defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using computers, pressure gauges, and other leading-edge equipment.
Communicate with management and support staff by using new technology solutions as deployed by PLM’s Connected Services Maintenance team.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck; Maintain vehicle, conduct safety checks, utilize proper PPE, inspect/maintain tooling and equipment, and conduct pre/post-trip inspections of vehicle.
Manage assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.
Document activity in compliance with company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Work Orders (“WO”).
Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the mechanical and technical workings of the TRU, Trailer and liftgate components (willing to train the right candidate on the TRU).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing assignments, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
Service and goal oriented. Good listener and effective problem solver.

Exhibit a professional and positive demeanor with a high degree of commitment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment or withing 72 hours (about 3 days) of hire.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as Diesel Technician on TRU/Trailer repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certifications/skill/experiences.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
