We pride ourselves on being the largest provider of the lifesaving ECMO Program in the region and are home to the world’s largest robotics program. We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab to join our growing team and lead our high-performing department to new heights of excellence.

Position Overview:
As the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will manage the department’s staff development, operational efficiency, and ensure the highest standards of patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate leader to shape the future of cardiology services in a thriving and innovative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Development:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Cardiac Cath Lab, including staff development, training, and performance management of Cath/EP personnel.
  • Create, implement, and maintain training programs for staff and assistant managers to improve department operations and clinical expertise.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with hospital educational requirements and maintain records of all staff training activities.
  • Act as a liaison between the Cath Lab team, physicians, and other departments to foster collaboration and enhance patient care.

Operational Management:

  • Develop and propose annual budgets and staffing plans for approval; manage the implementation of these plans efficiently.
  • Oversee payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting for the department.
  • Organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care and staffing within the department, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and departmental performance.

Clinical Excellence:

  • Oversee 4000 Cath Lab procedures annually, including diagnostic and interventional cases, and 1500 electrophysiology (EP) cases, serving both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Support the growth of specialized programs such as TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) and EP procedures, as well as the development of new services, including the expansion of the pediatric cardiovascular procedural space.
  • Ensure that the Cardiac Cath Lab operates at the highest clinical standards while maintaining efficient day-to-day operations.

Strategic Growth & Development:

  • Manage the ongoing development of the department, including the expansion of services and the addition of new procedural spaces, such as a hybrid OR/Cath Lab for pediatric and adult use, and a new vascular lab for aortic cases.
  • Promote strategic initiatives within the department, including the implementation of innovative technologies like electronic board systems for the Cath Lab.
  • Foster a culture of engagement and retention among staff, promoting an environment where team members feel valued and supported.

Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, ensuring alignment and collaboration between the Cath Lab and medical staff.
  • Promote a positive working environment that retains top talent, avoiding micromanagement while empowering staff to contribute to the department’s success.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or related area.
  • Alternative qualifications: High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of Cardiac Cath Lab management experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in developing, training, and retaining staff in a high-volume, high-stakes environment.
  • Strong operational and financial management abilities, including budgeting, staffing, and payroll functions.
  • Experience with Cath Lab procedures, including diagnostic and interventional cases, and electrophysiology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with physicians, staff, and other hospital departments.
