Supplier Quality Engineer

Expected Hours of Work:
This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Friday, plus overtime when required.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our quality assurance team. This role will focus on ensuring the quality of materials and components supplied to our refrigeration manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with suppliers, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders to drive supplier performance, maintain quality standards, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality management systems and processes to ensure all incoming materials meet the company’s quality standards.
- Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and qualifications, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, develop corrective actions, and drive continuous improvements in supplier processes.
- Oversee Supplier Production Part Approval process (PPAP). Review, approve and track supplier documentation for PPAP submissions. Including First Article Inspections (FAI), and material certifications.
- Monitor supplier performance through key metrics such as PPM (Parts Per Million), defect rates, and on-time delivery, and provide feedback to suppliers to drive performance improvements.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of supplier performance, non-conformances, and corrective actions within the quality management system.
- Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with the procurement and engineering teams to ensure supplier capabilities align with the manufacturing plant’s needs and requirements.
- Proactively develop and implement robust continuous improvement initiatives which include error-proofing methods to insure 100% product conformance and supplier reliability.
- Create and maintain project schedules, proactively and consistently execute assignments and tasks to insure successful completion.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or 7 years of experience in an engineering role.
- 5 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the refrigeration, HVAC, or appliance industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and supplier quality processes, including FMEA, PPAP, APQP and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proven experience in leading supplier audits and managing supplier corrective action requests.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Proficient in quality tools and techniques such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), and PPAP.
- Experience with blueprint reading, datum schemes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
