About the Role
We are seeking a Sr. DevOPs Engineer who is passionate about designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems while driving strategic initiatives. This role combines technical expertise with strategic planning, requiring the ability to create detailed roadmaps and execute them effectively to achieve organizational goals.
The consultant will focus on understanding CLIENTS modern Test Environments and create a plan for Gateway application installation in pre-production environments, followed by other application migrations to modern test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and influence multiple teams in building, configuring, and maintaining systems and applications that support internal and external BECU business and technology customers.
Collaborate with Principals, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams to develop and share patterns and practices that enable Security-as-a-Service and shift-left security, implementing those patterns into systems design.
Liaison between Principal and Senior Engineers to inform and develop new patterns and practices while educating the engineering organization.
Architect, design, and implement scalable and secure systems aligned with business objectives.
Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance by applying best practices.
Build end-to-end software delivery pipelines using continuous integration, deployment, and security principles with industry-leading testing practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, document, and align roadmaps with business strategies and stakeholder expectations.
Write architecture, dataflow, and process documentation, and articulate how products interact with other applications.
Collaborate with business and systems analysts and software engineers to reduce silos in technology.
Work closely with senior engineers from multiple teams to develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and solutions.
Write unit, integration, and interoperability tests, integrating them into CI / CD pipelines.
Mentor product teams in test automation and recommend testing solutions.
Drive telemetry improvements across the organization in collaboration with multiple product teams.
Lead development, testing, and delivery of system components / services and participate in code and design reviews.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to deliver milestones on time and within budget.
Be available on-call to respond to issues or problems arising during non-business hours.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.
Foster strong relationships across teams to ensure seamless system integration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum seven years of systems engineering experience, with emphasis on automated testing and infrastructure-as-code.
Expertise in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery systems (e.g., Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions).
Experience designing and implementing loosely coupled systems that are resilient, manageable, and observable.
Expertise with multiple database technologies, including cloud database offerings, with the ability to write complex queries.
Demonstrated knowledge of Test-Driven Development concepts, methods, and tools, with strong skills in unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing.
Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience presenting to technically adept and non-technical audiences.
Ability to bridge security and delivery teams, establishing shift-left security practices, including Security-as-Code and Continuous Security patterns.
Proven ability to collaborate across teams to improve system delivery and telemetry
