Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area is searching for an experienced Production Planning Manager. With a 50 year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
SCOPE
The Director of Planning is responsible for the oversight of Production scheduling, contractual delivery alignment and product/part movement. You will be an integral part of our business that ensures accurate planning and scheduling of product to be manufactured for our Customers. To achieve this you will be working with various departments to continuously improve MRP to help ensure level loading of the factory to successfully meet deliveries. These departments include IT, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, quality, production control, program office and inventory control.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct and provide leadership to the Production Planning Department to assure MRP supports contract requirements
• Develop and educate departments leadership team to excel in their roles to support manufacturing and delivery commitments
• Ensure proper materials forecasting and availability, including comprehensive planning for long lead time items
• Work closely with various departments to improve MRP processes
• Provide and maintain department Metrics that are inline with company goals and objectives
• Define long and short-term strategic plans/goals in accordance with company objectives
• Oversight of overall planning process to maintain alignment between contract and MRP driven completion dates
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships within the organization to work as one team
• Participate in and direct meetings, seminars and presentations as directed by upper management
• Demonstrate an earnest commitment to the company’s objectives for On Time Delivery, 100% Quality ratings, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and any other improvement initiatives
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
• CPIM certificate or significant related training, coursework, or experience a must
• Minimum 5 years SAP experience a must
• Minimum 10 years management experience in a mid to large size company
• Minimum 10 years working background within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace and/or defense-related & one utilizing "Lean" concepts and practices
• Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of LEAN practices
• Proficiency in MS Office including Excel and pivot tables
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Effective problem solving skills of various complexities
• General understanding of engineering drawings
• Self-motivated to excel, act upon and achieve best possible results
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
