What are the responsibilities and job description for the WELDER III position at Marvin Engineering Comp?
Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area is searching for an experienced Welder. With a 50 year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read Blueprints and Drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Safety First!
- TIG Weld experience a must.
- Tack weld and submit for inspection verification prior of completing the welding op.
- Follow instructions provided by Supervisor/ Engineering.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Keep area clean, use lean and 6’S.
- Be on time, can do attitude!
- Welder Level I-II-III will be set base on experience or special skills.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as welder
- Must be a AWS Welder certified to weld steel and aluminum, or have a current / still valid certification.
- TIG weld a must
- Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG etc.)
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret Blueprints technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and use of protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Deftness and attention to detail
- Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus. (Must be able to certify IAW MEC Welding Procedures)
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
- Must be able to speak/read/write English.
- Wear PPE at all times
