Overview of Position
Mary Baldwin University (MBU) seeks a Research Analyst to serve as the lead for data collection and analysis for the University and is responsible for all external data reporting to state, federal, and national entities. Reporting to the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness, the Research Analyst supports planning and assessment functions and must work collaboratively across the institution to ensure data needs are met. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position. This can be a fully remote or on-site position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize business intelligence and analytics technologies and develop dynamic and user-driven reporting of institutional data using these tools.
- Provide data updates to Dean and campus leadership regarding enrollment trends and budget projections for use in planning and decision-making.
- Serve as the Data Coordinator to ensure that all reports are submitted on time to SACSCOC and SCHEV; also serve as IPEDS Keyholder to ensure the timely reporting and completion of Federal reports.
- Oversee and monitor the reporting of data related to SCHEV and SACSCOC measures, provide timely updates as data are received and submitted, verify the accuracy of the data, and work with faculty and staff to use the results of the data to improve programs and services.
- Conduct regular and systematic institutional studies in which comparative and longitudinal data are compiled, analyzed, and reported to provide information on early momentum metrics, course success, retention and completion rates, and transfer performance.
- Provide data for accreditation purposes (SACSCOC) and assists the SACSCOC Liaison with documents such as the Institutional Summary Form, Substantive Change prospectuses, Fifth Year Interim Report, and 10-year Reaffirmation Report.
- Assist the Dean in evaluating assessment plans for student learning outcomes and identifying improvements to University programs and services.
- Manage survey development, distribution, and data analysis to obtain relevant information from graduates, current students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Provide consultative support to the campus community in research design and construction, data collection, and assessment processes.
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the University and attend University events and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position can be fully remote.
Qualifications
- Required: Master’s degree in a relevant field (Educational research, higher education, data analytics, etc…) or Bachelor’s degree and equivalent relevant experience and experience in data retrieval, analysis and research.
- Preferred:
- Experience with Jenzabar, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, R, online surveying.
- Experience with federal and state data reporting.
- Experience in data visualization.
- Experience in a higher education setting.
