Job Position: Preschool Aide
Reports to: Preschool Teacher
25-30 hours per week
Beginning Date: two weeks from hire
Compensation depending on education and experience
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for offering a high quality developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool age children as a team member with the teacher and assistant teacher. Responsible for participating in all educational aspects of the preschool under the guidance of the teacher as well as for preparing snacks and some cleaning tasks. Support the agency’s mission, vision, and code of ethics to welcome, empower, educate and advocate for Siouxland families with a special emphasis on new Siouxland families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Understand, help plan, and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschool age children utilizing The Creative Curriculum under the guidance of the teacher.
· Individualize and scaffold learning for each child.
· Collect anecdotal notes and enter into the Teaching Strategies GOLD.
· Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
· Maintain confidentiality for children, families, program and agency.
· Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
· Keep open and timely communication with the preschool teacher if any challenges arise.
· Follow cleaning procedures to maintain a clean and sanitary classroom.
· Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
· Center based experience with preschool age children is preferred
· Interest and passion to work with children from diverse backgrounds, including a high percentage of English Language Learners
· Maintain current First AID/CPR Training and Mandatory Reporting Certification
· Knowledge of Creative Curriculum GOLD is a plus

· Able and passionate to work with English Language Learners
· Able to identify problems and communicate concerns to appropriate co-workers and supervisors
· Ability to respond appropriately, both mentally and physically, to an emergency or crisis situation
· Daily kneeling, stooping, bending and sitting on the floor, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
· Able to communicate orally or written in an effective
Other Conditions of Employment
· Submit to the HHS Criminal History and a Request for Child Abuse Information Records Check prior to employment and every two (2) years thereafter.
· Submit to FBI National Fingerprint Criminal History Check prior to employment and every four (4) years thereafter.
· Complete a Physical Exam
· Complete a Tuberculosis Screening or Assessment
· Complete mandatory reporter training within 0 days of hire and every two (2) years thereafter.
· Sign and maintain required confidentiality statement.
· Attend required in-service, trainings, orientations, and meetings.
