Job Summary:
Under general direction and guidance, supports, coordinates and/or performs activities that ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations associated with manufacturing, distributing and marketing cosmetic, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and nutritional supplements. Responsible for independently delivering raw material and formula reviews, product positioning briefs, label reviews and product registration in foreign markets as required. Has a deepening understanding of regulatory requirements, regulatory agencies, enforcement posture and Mary Kay policies. Communicates effectively with peers, management, and consulting partners. Communicates effectively with colleagues in international markets.
About the Role:
1. Applies standard practices and techniques to conduct raw material and formula reviews, conducts label reviews and prepares regulatory product registration submissions for cosmetic, OTC and nutritional supplement products, and reports project status to supervisor. Demonstrates a deepening understanding of regulatory affairs. Proactively seeks consultation with supervisor on non-standard or new technical issues. Applies knowledge of regulations to anticipate potential issues and propose solutions. Expected to make recommendations/resolve problems of moderate difficulty in their direct project work.
2. Executes routine tasks/responsibilities using both defined and undefined processes. Navigates ambiguity to complete objectives. Works independently to influence project decisions. Initiates collaboration with appropriate R&D team members to support global compliance assessment. Captures and maintains information on internal MK databases & systems.
3. Supports Product Stewardship initiatives, such as participating in new product development projects to support overall compliance goals. Demonstrates growing independence in the execution of regulatory tasks, provides timely and appropriate regulatory advice and recommendations in team meetings to ensure products are successfully launched on desired on sale dates.
4. Works under general direction on moderately complex projects/initiatives with increasing responsibilities, such as assessing product labeling. Participates in appropriate Trade Association subcommittees, reviews and assesses new/revised regulations and conveys the information and impact to Mary Kay to the appropriate disciplines.
Skills & Experience:
Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Chemistry, Nutrition, Food Science, Biology
Experience: 3 years with Regulatory Affairs experience with a consumer goods company or other applicable experience.
