Job Summary:

Manages the daily activities of the Corporate EHS department. Drives implementation of EHS policies for all Mary Kay sites worldwide that align with standard manufacturing practices and current regulatory requirements. Builds, develops, and maintains internal relationships with key business partners and senior leaders to collaborate and implement plans to achieve goals/objectives that align with standard manufacturing practices and current regulatory requirements. Works with other to departments to develop, assist with, and/or execute company environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives. Leads employee incident investigations to identify root cause and drives corrective action plans. Supports OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) certification through effective leadership of designated element teams and collaboration with VPP Coordinator to ensure site compliance. Lead auditor for EHS compliance audits of MK sites.

About the Role:

  • Manages the daily activities of the Corporate EHS department and develops corporate EHS policies to ensure compliance with EHS regulatory requirements and company standards for all Mary Kay sites worldwide. Implements EHS programs and initiatives to promote awareness and maintain a robust EHS culture. Works with site and/or department leadership to streamline processes and procedures in order to achieve operational and EHS goals. Supports company initiatives and business objectives per direction of the Senior Manager, Corporate EHS.
    • Leads implementation of EHS programs and procedures to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and goals at the site level. Ensures deployment and use of EHS software tools to collect and evaluate EHS data. Interfaces with site and/or department leadership to communicate EHS program performance, compliance strategies, and regulatory changes or issues.
  • Manages EHS regulatory programs as assigned to ensure compliance with requirements. Develops training material and conducts employee training as needed. Responsible to maintain records associated with the designated programs. Tracks costs associated with program management. Assists with developing new or updated EHS procedures based on regulatory changes, work area modifications, and/or employee or management feedback.
    • Manages employee and temporary contract labor personnel safety incidents for designated departments. Conducts Tier 1 incident investigations, manages the incident corrective action plan, and maintains employee incident documentation. Works with department leadership and/or Human Resources regarding adverse safety behaviors and trends that impact the work environment.
  • Manages the Corporate EHS budget to ensure spending is within the allocated limits. Provides quarterly budget forecasts and works with the Finance department to make budget adjustments. Presents budget reports (as needed) and communicates budget needs to Senior Manager, Corporate EHS.
    • Serves as the EHS Champion for VPP Safety Element Teams as assigned. Provides guidance, training, and support to VPP Element Team members to ensure the goals/objectives of the team are accomplished. Works in conjunction with the entire EHS team to provide procedural guidance to site leadership regarding the VPP.
  • Member of the Corporate EHS Audit Team. Leads EHS audits of MK facilities to ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulatory requirements and company standards and ensures that all applicable and required records are prepared and maintained. Inputs audit findings in the electronic audit system, assigns action items to the appropriate personnel, and tracks status to closure.
    • Conducts routine walkthroughs of designated areas at the US MFG/R&D facility to check compliance with EHS regulatory requirements, evaluates employee concerns, and/or corrects any immediate issues. Participates in special projects as the EHS representative related to designated areas as needed.
  • Oversees document control for the Corporate EHS department. Works with Corporate Quality to ensure EHS documents are properly formatted, written to template standards, and are entered into the document control system for review and approval. Assists with and reviews document changes as needed. Completes document review cycles as required. Collaborates with other departments on shared procedure documents.
    • Administrator for Gensuite Waste Tracker. Provides support in the following areas; setup and manage MK site waste profiles and vendor profiles, complete employee training, and troubleshoot issues. Organizes waste management data and creates reports as needed.
  • Works cross-functionally to develop, implement, and support environmental stewardship programs and initiatives for MK sites that will positively impact the business.
  • Supports corporate sustainability initiatives. Serves as the EHS representative for MK Customer Service to respond to customer and Sales Force inquiries about sustainability or EHS-related issues. Works with various groups (as needed) to provide accurate responses. Serves as the backup to the Senior Manager, Corporate EHS as a member of the Sustainability Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Serves as the secondary liaison with the Global Business Continuity Leader as the Business Continuity Coordinator for the development and maintenance of EHS business continuity plans.
  • Monitors industry and regulatory EHS compliance issues and trends. Responsible to research and keep informed of developments related to EHS regulations and issues that impact the Company. Serves as a technical resource in the development of strategies to influence the legislative process. Cultivates and maintains working relationships as appropriate with trade associations, government agencies, and professional peers to remain current on pending legislation, court rulings, and industry plans for compliance.
  • This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor/University Degree

Experience: 7 years plus 2 years supervisory all in employee health and safety

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS (OSHA, EPA) regulatory requirements and industry standards. Ability to implement and manage EHS programs in a global environment.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to quickly learn new technology/software to pull data, create reports, and/or prepare training materials and classes.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and immediately change priorities when needed.
  • Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions. Able to communicate complex and technical information in a way that audiences can quickly understand the issues and opportunities.
  • Evaluate issues, define requirements, and implement action plans to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Interact effectively with peers and all levels of management.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience working with budgets and financial data.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in group process/facilitation. Must have the ability to lead teams, including cross-functional teams, and present ideas and gain consensus and support.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers and all levels of management.
  • Ability to perform duties with judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Domestic and international travel required approximately 25% of time.
