Nature & Scope : Positional Overview

Mary Kraft is seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster (Auto) to analyze and process complex auto and commercial transportation claims. In this role, you will review coverage, conduct thorough investigations, determine liability, and evaluate the scope of damages for both personal and commercial auto policies.

  • Process complex auto, commercial, and personal line claims, including those involving bodily injury, ensuring that all claim files are accurately documented and coded.
  • Oversee the litigation process on claims that require legal resolution, particularly those related to bodily injury, uninsured / underinsured motorist (UM / UIM) cases, including instances involving fatalities, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries.
  • Coordinate vendor management, including the use of independent adjusters, to support the investigation of claims.
  • Report large claims to excess carriers and develop comprehensive action plans to meet state-required contact deadlines, moving each claim toward prompt resolution.
  • Identify and pursue subrogation and risk transfer opportunities and manage the salvage process.
  • Communicate effectively with insured parties, clients, agents, and brokers regarding claim actions and processing.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Professional certification as applicable to the line of business is a plus.
  • Must secure and maintain any required state adjusting licenses for the position.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with in-depth knowledge of personal and commercial auto policies, coverages, principles, and applicable laws.
  • At least 3 years of CA workers’ compensation claims handling experience is required for candidates from outside CA.
  • In-depth understanding of personal and commercial auto policies, including knowledge of liability, coverage principles, and relevant state, federal, and local laws.
  • Experience with handling bodily injury, uninsured / underinsured motorist cases (including fatality, fractures, and traumatic brain injury), with claim thresholds up to $1 million.
  • Familiarity with litigation handling pertaining to BI / UM / UIM is required for a minimum of 3 candidates.
  • Preferred experience with auto physical damage handling.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to present information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and other relevant software.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet or exceed service expectations.
