Job Summary -
The Lead Lab Assistant for the Urgent Care will be responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Responsible for Stat processing and testing of specimens for select, waived point of care tests. Operates and maintains the records of basic instruments and centrifuges. Responsible for taking inventory and ordering supplies. Oversees the orientation and competency assessment of new employees. Is cross-trained to take patient vital signs and assist in other areas at MRHC. Other duties include, but are not limited to: clerical duties such as patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution and filing.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. during week and 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on weekends. 36 hours per week. Responsible for weekends, on rotation.
Regulatory Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge from experience.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required. Lab assistants are encouraged to obtain a phlebotomy certification.
- Prior lab experience preferred.
- A valid Ohio Drivers License with a good driving record is required, if applicable.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Must complete simple laboratory tasks in all sections.
