What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Enrichment Director position at Mary T Inc.?
The Mary T Family of Companies is hiring for a full-time Life Enrichment Director to work within our assisted living facilities in Coon Rapids, MN.
The Life Enrichment Director will be responsible for the organization of our Life Enrichment Department related to scheduled/unscheduled person-centered events. This position must have the ability to meet each resident where they are with creative ideas for social, educational, physical, mental, and spiritual activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC JOB DUTIES:
- Communicate, supervise, plan and carry out recreational, educational, and leisure activities that meet the needs of the residents and the Life Enrichment Department.
- Promote self-esteem and social interaction with residents.
- Maintain safety and security of residents at all times, including during activities outside the building.
- Create, update and post activity calendars for all residents.
- Oversee and direct all department staff.
- Prepares for and participates in resident care conferences.
- Completes and updates resident assessments in a timely manner.
- Provides opportunities for residents to learn new skills and develop new interests.
- Manages the program within established budget and maintains inventory of needed supplies.
- Develops, implements and evaluates standards of documentation to comply with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Ensures all residents are receiving meaningful activities designed to meet their interest and physical, mental and psychosocial needs, in accordance with the interdisciplinary assessment.
- Responsible to review quality of documentation of all other program personnel.
- Develop policies and procedures for the administration of the program.
- Establishes and monitors departmental budget that includes ordering supplies and services, maintenance of equipment and the control of labor hours.
- Maintains open communication with Dietary, Nursing and Assisted Living staff in regard to appropriate participation of residents in various programs.
- Plans and develops short and long-term goals for the program.
- Maintains and oversees team’s schedules.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supervising all Life Enrichment and Volunteer staff
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- BA / BS degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Music or Art Therapy or a combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Assisted Living Facility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledgeable in the field of gerontology.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in planning, organizing, and executing daily, weekly, monthly and annual activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to become proficient with the company software and data systems.
- Ability to demonstrate and practice the principles of proper body mechanics for all physical activities.
- Ability to practice precautions, standards and facility infection control procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to use position related equipment properly and safely.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete all position related training.
- Obtain and maintain required licenses.
