Description
At Maryhurst, our residential programs, community-based homes and our outpatient clinical programs all work to serve children in the greatest need. And lastly, the team at Maryhurst Renewal partners with children, adults and families who are hurting to find the right combination of support, ultimately clearing barriers to success at home, at school, and in the community. Renewal provides one-on-one, group and family counseling in office, home or school-based settings.
The Medical Assistant supports Health Services during weekly clinic sessions, assists with medical procedures, performs phlebotomy procedures, coordinates lab and lab procedures, orders lab supplies, and assists with record keeping within the department. The Medical Assistant may also assist with organizing and delivering medications, and transporting clients to outside appointments. The medical assistant will assist in the day to day functions of the Health Services Department as needed.
Essential Duties
- Assists the pediatrician during on-campus clinic visits, including having client charts available, providing needed information and support to the doctor, documenting doctor's diagnosis and recommendations, and relaying information to appropriate staff persons via e-mail or other contact
- May prepare clients for clinic by drawing necessary labs samples, taking height and weight measurements, and performing other preparatory tasks as needed
- Check for discontinued medications and remove them from the medication carts in the dorms
- Regularly inspect medication carts to assure medications are properly stored
- Assist with utilization review documentation and discharge summary documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and a Medical Assistant diploma and/or certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive under the Maryhurst motor vehicle policy.
