What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at Maryknoll Sisters?
The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist mailroom staff, perform shipping and receiving functions and handle the supply/stockroom inventory. When available and when requested, this position performs a proportionate share of the necessary housekeeping, maintenance, and other services required to maintain the Maryknoll Sisters' Center as an attractive complex.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Shipping/Receiving:
a. Receives any/all deliveries for the facility.
b. Validates delivery packing slip for accurate delivery of supplies.
c. Records shipment data in database using inventory software.
d. Notifies all associated parties for completion of receiving procedures.
e. Delivers materials to various departments using hand truck, if needed.
2. Inventory:
a. Receives all inventory parts/equipment/materials and places in appropriate stock locations.
b. Manages all stock levels to assure proper quantities are “on hand”.
c. Identifies re-order quantities to appropriate channels for proper ordering.
d. Distributes materials as needed.
e. Maintains all records associated with above responsibilities.
3. Mailroom Functions:
a. Coordinates pick-up and delivery of mail to specified departments.
b. Assists Mailroom staff during morning operating hours as needed/directed.
4. Building and Maintenance:
a. Basic Porter responsibilities, when time permits to include the following:
· Assists with Housekeeping Responsibilities requests.
· Assists with other building services as requested, and directed
by the Support Services Manager.
· Moves furniture, as requested.
· Cares for tools, equipment and supplies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
(a) Ability to accept and perform mailroom functions, shipping, receiving and inventory tasks with a high degree of proficiency.
(b) Ability to work as a team member with Sisters who operate the mailroom, other
department co-workers, and staff and Sisters in departments and communities who rely on shipping and receiving services.
(c) Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and software specific to inventory control.
(d) Must be able to lift 50lbs.
(e) Ability to stock inventory in an orderly fashion
(f) Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
(g) Ability to lift, push, pull and move throughout the complex with deliveries
(h) Ability to prioritize, plan and organize daily work.
(i) Ability to tolerate heat, cold, noises and odors.
(j) Must possess a Valid New York Drivers License.
(k) Willingness to further one’s education in shipping and receiving and in a particular skill or trade, if needed.
2. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
(a) Prior shipping and receiving experience preferred.
(b) Prior supply and stockroom inventory control experience preferred.
3. MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED
(a) High School Diploma or equivalent.
(b) Training in one or more trades is desirable.
