Founded in 1999, Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide nonprofit with a central office in Columbia, Md., and staff located in communities throughout the state. Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth and other loved ones, we connect, support and empower Maryland’s families. Our staff provide one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of young people with mental health issues and to any loved one who cares for someone with a substance use or gambling issue. We also advocate to improve systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges.

General Description: The Training Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting the assessment of organizational development needs, the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional development programming, and the continuous learning of team members, particularly Family Peer Support Specialists and regional Family Peer Support Specialist Team Supervisors. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

General Description: The Training Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting the assessment of organizational development needs, the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional development programming, and the continuous learning of team members, particularly Family Peer Support Specialists and regional Family Peer Support Specialist Team Supervisors. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Identify and assess the training needs of the organization’s employees through job analysis, career paths and consultation with supervisors.
- Develop, implement and evaluate individualized and group training learning and development programs that address specific organizational and individual needs that close the gaps in employees’ competencies and skills.
- Collaborate with HR Coordinator on the new employee onboarding process.
- Schedule regular meetings with new hires to monitor their progress and provide support.
- Form, execute, and oversee curriculum workgroups to develop, update, and improve trainings for all staff.
- Delivers instructor-led training to employees such as mandatory and elective training programs, seminars, and HR compliance.
- Manages utilization and maintenance of MCF’s online learning management system, including assigning training to new hires and staff
- Carefully examine and select external trainers, speakers, and instruction materials to ensure high-quality and relevancy.
- Implement adult learning theories, learning and development approaches/techniques, and effectively make use of technology
- Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training meets organizational needs and improves stated outcomes. Keep supervisors and Senior Leadership Team abreast of progress.
- Assess individual employees’ skills, performance and productivity to identify areas of improvement.
- Incorporate MCF values and philosophy through all training and development activities, including principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Source or develop leadership development experiences for current and future leaders.
- Monitors and supports staff efforts to obtain national Family Peer Support Specialist certification.
- Work closely with Senior Leadership to establish training curriculum and budget.
- Keep abreast of adult learning best practices, trends, and developments.
- Continue to develop personally and professionally to model a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in adult training and development management (essential).

- Bachelors’ Degree in education or related field preferred
- Experience working and training within a non-profit, family services organization beneficial, but not required.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Superb track record in developing and executing successful training programs.
- Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational awareness and emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions, departments, and levels.
- Highly technologically literate with proficiency in MS Office and adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Familiar with adult learning theories and practices and current educational tools and technologies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates a strategic creative and growth mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to travel throughout the state. Current Maryland driver’s license and insurance, and access to own vehicle.
- Full-Time 40 hours/week
- Salary: $67-$70K/yearly
- MCF provides equipment, mileage reimbursement, and paid training.
