What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Engineer I -Traffic position at Maryland Department of Transportation?
RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration (SHA) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineer I- TrafficTrack. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below for this position. This position is located in Hanover at the Office of Traffic & Safety, Baltimore City at the Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering, or various SHA District Offices statewide. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill current and future vacancies in this classification throughout the entire agency.
This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA.
Nature of Work: This is an entry level position. Employees assigned in the Transportation Engineer Career Program may be responsible in any of the following: assisting in traffic-related functions which could include the following: meeting project goals, developing alternatives, attending public meetings, evaluating design criteria against project constraints, performing constructability reviews, reviewing and designing roadway plans, performing construction inspection for proposed roadway improvement projects, providing traffic/travel demand information, and conducting or reviewing traffic engineering analysis.

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, transportation, or architectural engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None required.
Note: Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the state of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
