Job Description: Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for an Environmental Systems Regional Supervisor. This position is responsible for overall management of the water, wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment systems that the MES is responsible for within the Southern Region of Maryland. This includes the administration and supervision of all operations and maintenance activities and personnel. Estimated Pay Range: $85,568.63 - $117,656.87 Benefits: Health Insurance with choice of medical plan and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options, along with flexible spending accounts 401K retirement savings program with generous agency match Paid vacation, personal and sick leave Ten paid holidays per year Tuition assistance Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or state high school equivalency certificate and satisfactory completion of the following self-study courses from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS): 1. The four (CSUS) courses must be approved by the Chief of Operations. If all or additional courses are needed to meet this requirement, MES will allow 18 months for the employee to complete the required courses. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment. 2. The “Manage for Success” or equivalent CSUS management course that is approved by the MES Training Office must also be completed for this position. AND 1 year as an Environmental Systems Assistant Regional Supervisor with the Maryland Environmental Service. OR 8 years of progressively responsible experience as an operator of water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems, including at least 3 years supervising subordinate plant personnel. License Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points. Must hold a valid operator’s certificate that the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators considers appropriate for either wastewater class 5 or water class 4, a passing score on both an operator certification examination that the Board accepts for wastewater class 5, and an operator certification examination that the Board accepts for water class 4, a passing score on a third operator certification examinations that the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators has accepted for operator certification in this State. This third examination must be passed within 24 months of beginning employment in the Maryland Environmental Service’s water/wastewater environmental systems operator job series.
