Who We Are
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is the cultural core of Annapolis, serving as a hub for the arts, education, and community connection. We produce or host an average of 95 shows annually spanning a diverse array of performances, gallery exhibitions, and events, including performances in partnership with Rams Head Presents. We also host larger community events like Annapolis Pride. At Maryland Hall, there is always something happening to engage, inspire, and bring people together through the arts.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a great Event Bar Coordinator to join our team at Maryland Hall. This role supports events and performances by providing exceptional bar service to our patrons and ensuring a positive and welcoming experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and engaging arts experiences as this position plays an integral role in creating and sustaining holistic experiences for our patrons. This position pays $18 per hour and averages 20-25 hours per week.
What you’ll be doing
- Event Bar Service: Set up and break down bar area(s) and prepare/serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with event needs and organizational policies.
- Customer Engagement: Create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for patrons by offering and delivering friendly and attentive service.
- Compliance: Follow all State and local alcohol service regulations, including verifying age and managing responsible consumption.
- Inventory Management: Restock bar area(s), including counting supplies, completing month-end inventory reports, and ordering supplies from vendors.
- Cash Handling: Handle cash responsibly and leverage a point-of-sale system to process transactions, update inventory, and adjust for events as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Closely collaborate with the Director of Programming, Director of Finance and Operations, front-of-house teams, and volunteers to ensure smooth event operations; closely collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to schedule volunteers for events.
- Volunteer Training & Oversight: Supervise and train beverage volunteers in operating the POS, in providing beverage service, and in supporting set-up and tear-down of bar areas.
- Event Planning: Attend bi-weekly event planning meetings to plan for upcoming events, review prior events, and align with production and programming teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to us:
- Prior bar management experience in an event operations space is required.
- Must be 21 and TIPS-certified (or willing to obtain a certification upon hire).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to adapt to dynamic event schedules.
