General purpose : MICA's summer PreCollege Art and Design Program is a 2- 4 week intensive college-level experience designed to help participants make the leap from thinking like a high school art student to thinking like an artist making art that reflects a new level of skill and personal vision, communicating ideas about art in daily critiques, and building a professional portfolio of work. PreCollege is designed for rising juniors and seniors. In conjunction with MICA's Mission and Vision, our program provides a welcoming environment for all students through an inclusive community that values students of all races and ethnicities, sexual orientations and expressions, creative abilities, religious faiths, political affiliations, and socio-economic backgrounds. Teaching Assistants (TAs) assist faculty and staff in modeling and facilitating a healthy, welcoming and inclusive community within the classroom. TAs work with a MICA Faculty member to provide high-quality instruction to Pre-college students and introduce them to skills and techniques within their area of expertise.

Summary of Essential Functions
Assist faculty with instructional implementation, demonstrations, critique, and student supportSupervise required studio time outside of class in collaboration with faculty and staffAssist with the successful implementation of the PreCollege academic programming. The variety of tasks associated with this position involves administrative, clerical, physical, organizational,l and leadership skillsEssential Duties & Responsibilities
Work directly with a faculty member to support their course for the duration of the programAssist in planning academic content for field trips and on-location logisticsSupervise students and model, implement, and enforce PreCollege program policies, rules, and regulationsWork with Pro Staff and PreCollege Faculty to ensure a safe and positive academic experience for studentsFacilitate and encourage students to develop and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships,and personal wellness, and provide support and guidance as neededProvide support, interventions, and referrals when appropriate for individual student needsModel and enforce PreCollege program policies, rules, and regulations and act as an ambassador for the programPerform other related duties as assigned such as supervising students on weekend field trips and off-campus locations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
