General purpose : The Senior Sales Floor Associate position oversees all sales floor activities, modeling high-quality customer service and support. This position schedules and trains all student employees assigned to work in the college store and ensures all merchandising, stocking, and customer care tasks are completed.
Summary of Essential Functions :
- Supervise student employees and all sales floor activities
- Ensure that sales areas are clean, fully stocked, and well-organized
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards and set the tone for all sales floor employees
- Manage the check-in of deliveries and the shipping of eCommerce orders
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Perform opening and closing procedures including cash handling, store walkthroughs, and door checksCoordinate part-time staff by creating the weekly schedule and assigning duties and tasksMaximize sales results through training, developing, and coaching of student employeesTrain new employees in the use of POS registers, cash handling, and product identificationCoach student employees in MICA Store standards for courteous and knowledgeable customer serviceManage all aspects of student and alumni consignment vending, including product evaluation, inventory maintenance, merchandising, and creating check requests to pay vendors for sales each monthKeep all merchandise on the sales floor stocked and organized by performing and assigning stock checks, product facing, and cleaning tasksCheck-in, sort and put away new stock, update shelf tags and pricing, pick, pack, and ship all online ordersMonitor stock and report low stock and new inventory requestsAssist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new associatesCheck store email and handle customer issues / inquiries both in-store and onlineBuild and receive purchase orders.Create and maintain product listings on the store’s eCommerce website which includes preparing images, collecting product information, and maintaining clear and consistent item descriptions across the siteAssist with merchandising and sign-making as neededAssist with design and execute special event activities and promotionsBe observant of all activities taking place on the sales floor and be proactive in customer care and problem-solvingPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of a variety of art materials with an interest in learning about new materials and techniquesComputer proficiency with experience in point-of-sale software, Google Suite, and the ability to learn new applicationsStrong leadership skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populationsProfessional verbal and written communication skillsOutstanding customer service skillsMinimum qualifications :
Minimum high school diplomaRelevant experience retail, sales or customer servicePreferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Fine ArtsDigital design experienceExperience with a variety of art materialsReporting to this position : Part-time sales / stock clerks
