Overview
As a growing operation, Schroyer's Tavern at Maryland National Golf Club is looking for experienced bartenders and leaders to join our food & beverage team. The ideal candidate will be professional and friendly, adaptable to an ever-changing environment, and committed to providing exceptional customer service. As a bartender and floor manager, you will be responsible for service (service bar, turn service, and table service); engaging with golfers, diners, and event guests; and ensuring a clean and welcoming atmosphere in our clubhouse, pavilion, and patio spaces. Your ability to manage time effectively, motivate and lead a seasonal staff, and meld into our existing team environment will be key to your success.
Duties
- Assist in the training and proficiency of co-workers in the food & beverage department.
- Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures for the food and beverage operation.
- Assume responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and proper set-up of the dining room, Eagle's Nest pavilion, and patio spaces.
- Close and secure building at designated times using standard closing procedures.
- Assist in writing of all standard recipes for all beverages. Ensure only standard recipes and pours are used by all bartenders at all times.
- Ensure quantity levels of food and beverage products and maintain quality standards in services, facilities, and member/guest satisfaction.
- Answer telephones and communicate information to callers in a pleasant manner, making them feel welcome and at ease.
- Advise supervisor of any member/guest complaints so they can be immediately and professionally resolved.
- Verify the accuracy of prices, State and Federal Taxes, tips, and other charges on all customer checks and accurately operate the Point of Sale system per the Operating Procedures Manual.
- Handle and count cash, make accurate change and record credit cards as well as member charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Take customer orders and serve beverages professionally and courteously.
- Assist in the ordering and maintenance of par-stock levels on beverage inventory.
- Understand and comply with state liquor laws as they relate to serving liquor to the public.
- Ensure that the Food & Beverage Director and/or General Manager is informed of member/guests who may be intoxicated. Any member/guest who is intoxicated is not to be served.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending and leadership experience required
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a friendly atmosphere for guests and staff
- Familiarity with food service operations in both a restaurant and banquet setting is advantageous, golf industry is a plus
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be 18 in Frederick County, MD to serve/handle alcohol
Listed pay scale is for management role, but does not represent tips and gratuities as supplemental incomes.
