JOB DESCRIPTION
Maryland Pain Specialists
The purpose of this position is to greet the patients at the front window. Collect all pertinent documents from the patients, verify and enter all necessary information into the computer and collect co-pays. The employee will be sitting, standing, bending and walking frequently throughout their shift. Climbing, reaching overhead, squatting, kneeling and crawling may be required occasionally. Lifting of 0-25lbs, may be necessary occasionally. All of which takes place indoors in a well lit, well ventilated, temperature controlled office space.
1. Collect all pertinent documents from the patient upon their arrival.
2. Time stamp the patient’s arrival time. Take patient’s photo within the EHR.
3. Collect patient’s co-pays as determined by their insurance coverage and provide receipts.
4. Post patient payments to correct account.
5. Accurately enter/verify/update the patient’s demographic information into the EHR.
6. Communicate with clinical staff patient’s arrival or cancelation.
7. Assist co-workers at the direction and discretion of supervisor/administrator.
8. Monitor faxes, distribute or scan incoming faxes
9. File faxes received within the EHR
10. Assist answering phones when appropriate
11. Assist scheduling patients when appropriate
12. Successful completion of annual OSHA, HIPAA, Cyber Security and Cultural Sensitivity training required
13. Scan patient’s insurance cards into EHR (front and back)
14. Notify the billing department when a patient’s billing information changes will affect previous visits.
15. Batch credit card payments and prepare deposit slips daily. Secure in a locked location.
Knowledge of computers and general office equipment such as copier, fax, credit card machine, telephone. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
