TITLE: MSYSA Lead Referee Assignor (Full-Time/On-Site)

The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) is a member of the US Soccer Federation as a National State Association and is affiliated with US Youth Soccer. MSYSA serves as the primary advocate for the amateur sport of youth soccer in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Established in 1976, the MSYSA proudly serves a membership of over 210 affiliate clubs and leagues typically registering 75 ,000 players and thousands of coaches, administrators, and volunteers. The MSYSA state office is located in Glenwood, Maryland.
Job Description:
The Lead Referee Assignor assigns referees for many matches each year to include a number of MSYSA sanctioned tournaments and leagues. In addition to working collaboratively with certified assignors and other members of the referee community, the MSYSA Lead Referee Assignor coordinates professional development opportunities for participating referees and provides insights and recommendations for how to improve recruitment and retention of referees. The duties within the job description are listed below.
The Lead Referee Assignor position is full-time, exempt, and reports directly to the MSYSA Director of Affiliate Logistics.
Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
MSYSA Sanctioned Tournaments & Leagues
- Assign the certified referees necessary to fill game assignments for matches
- Work closely with the applicable league or tournament Director regarding game scheduling
- Recommend professional development opportunities for participating referees
- Additional duties as assigned
MSYSA State Cup & Presidents Cup
- Working with the SYRA, assign the certified referees necessary to fill all game assignments for all MSYSA Cup matches
- Work closely with the MSYSA Cups Director regarding game scheduling
- Recommend professional development opportunities for participating referees
- Additional duties as assigned
MSYSA ODP Invitational
- Working with the SYRA, assign the certified referees necessary to fill all game assignments for the MSYSA ODP Invitational
- Work closely with the MSYSA Technical Director regarding game scheduling
- Recommend professional development opportunities for participating referees
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Passion for the game of soccer
- 5 years of referee experience desired
- Knowledge of the referee landscape
- Being a certified assignor and/or a referee coach desired
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and take direction
- Available to work nights and weekends, as needed
- Team player
- Must be eligible to work in the USA and pass annual background check
