REPORTS TO: Superintendent
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full time, 260 day contract
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as a key member of the District's leadership team. Manage personnel, direct district operations, and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence to ensure the success of all students and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage and evaluate building principals and operations departments which includes Technology, Operations, Compliance and Enrollment.
Oversee the enrollment department which includes custody and residency, open enrollment, intra-district enrollment and overflow situations.
Oversee homeschooling, district homeless liaison, foster care liaison, gifted, State and Federal grants, and ELL programs.
Lead board policy revisions and updates and other legal issues.
Manage District testing programs to include OST, ACT, OELPA, Early Learning Assessment, KRA and others.
Develop communications which includes developing communications for local media, parents and community.
Coordinates crisis situations with staff and media.
Serve as chief administrative officer of the district in the absence of the Superintendent of Schools.
Assist with the development and implementation of strategic planning for the school district, including performance indicators.
Establish, develop and monitor building level planning processes, ensuring alignment to district strategic plan.
Assist with the oversight of curriculum and instruction for the District.
Coordinate staff recommendations for curriculum changes; for example course additions, grade placement of courses, course content, credit allowance.
Develop an annual comprehensive plan for the professional development of certificated staff and coordinate its implementation with the leadership team.
Oversee the district's student assessment program.
Review student data with principals to prioritize curricular areas for improving teaching strategies.
Monitor the budgets for curriculum, testing, student services, title programs and professional development.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate actively in committee work that will advance the goals and responsibilities of the position.
Member of the calamity day operations team.
Maintain connections with educational leaders in the region, state and nation.
Pursue appropriate professional growth opportunities.
Serve as a role model for students and staff in the practice of ethical principles, responsible behavior and democratic values.
Maintain an appropriate personal appearance.
Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Ohio Assistant Superintendent's certificate/license.
Public school teaching and administrative experience.
Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board of Education may find appropriate.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Willingness to develop a thorough knowledge of the Ohio public school system and to become familiar with the characteristics of the Marysville schools and community.
Ability and desire to provide leadership for, and work cooperatively with, school employees.
Well-developed organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
Sound judgment and a sense of humor.
Team building skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Frequent travel between schools.
Frequent evening and weekend work.
Operation of a vehicle in inclement weather; that is, being prepared to work on all scheduled days, including calamity days.
Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, hear, read.
