POSITION SUMMARY:
Coach the Middle School Fall Cheerleading program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the selection of cheerleaders.
- Supervision of all practice sessions and scheduled events.
- Supervise students continuously while on duty, and require students to behave appropriately.
- Distribute, collect and inventory the equipment.
- Maintain the locker room facilities.
- Manage record keeping and the presentation of awards to the athletes.
- Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, parents and community members.
- Serve as a role model for student athletes in the promotion and practice of sportsmanship, ethical principles and responsible behavior.
- Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.
- Follow the Athletic Department's rules and the applicable rules in the student handbook.
- Other duties may be assigned by the the Middle School Athletic Director or the Middle School Principal.
- Valid coaching permit.
- Ohio teaching certificate/license preferred.
- CPR certification with mandatory annual review.
- Ability to teach and evaluate the skills of cheerleading.
- Cheerleading experience and/or knowledge of cheerleading.
- Ability to effectively supervise cheerleaders and work with them in a positive manner.
- Ability to work cooperatively with adults.
- Ability to meet the practice and contest time requirements specified by the Athletic Director or Principal.
- Audiovisual equipment.
- School vans.
- Potential exposure to blood or other body fluids.
- Regular exposure to hazardous athletic equipment.
- Close proximity to people running.
- Potential exposure to unruly people.
- Exposure to dust, pollen and inclement weather conditions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Length of Employment: Contract runs concurrent with school year: fall cheerleading season will run approximately August through November
- Salary: Supplemental pay, appropriate experience step level
- Fringe Benefits: None
