Job Title: Network Services Manager
Reports to: Executive Director of Finance & Operations
Work Schedule: 8.0 hours per day, 260 days per year

Job Summary:
The Network Services Manager is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's network and IT infrastructure to support both administrative and educational programs. This includes network and system administration, security enforcement, troubleshooting, and user support. Additionally, the role involves training staff, procuring and deploying technology, and ensuring reliable access to IT resources.

Technical Skills:
Network & System Administration
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud networks. o Oversee network security, firewalls, VPNs, user access controls, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Manage Active Directory, email systems, SQL databases, and other essential services.
- Ensure network uptime and reliability through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve network, server, and application issues.
- Implement regular system updates, patches, and backups to maintain security and integrity.
- Conduct system and hardware upgrades to improve performance and scalability.
Support & Training
- Provide technical support to district staff and other stakeholders.
- Conduct training sessions on operating systems, applications, and network resources.
- Assist in developing IT policies and best practices for efficient use of technology.
Planning & Procurement
- Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and networking solutions.
- Plan and implement system and network infrastructure expansions or upgrades.
- Assist in managing IT budgets and procurement processes.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce data security policies, including access control, data encryption, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Perform security audits and respond to cybersecurity threats as needed.
Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network topology, and IT assets.
- Document IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and security policies.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for audits and future planning ..
Other Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay updated on new technologies.
- Collaborate with leadership on IT strategic planning and district technology initiatives.
- Provide emergency IT support outside of normal working hours when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT-related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in network and systems administration.
- Industry certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network /Security , CySA , CISSP) desired.
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, servers, and cloud solutions.
- Ability to analyze network traffic, performance logs, and security alerts.
- Linux shell scripting and switch configuration writing
- Effective communication and user support skills.
Knowledge:
- Networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Windows and Linux server administration.
- Cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Cloud services such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and AWS/Azure.
Abilities:
- Work independently and within a team.
- Adapt to changing technology and workplace needs.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Provide training and technical guidance to users.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is typically performed in an office, department, and school environment. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and lifUmove objects such as files, boxes, etc. The employee may experience exposure to hazardous materials, is required to deal with a wide range of student and teacher behaviors that may include anger and frustration, is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children, and is required to have the physical strength and stamina required for the installation of equipment and the ability to drive in all kinds of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation
The Network Services Manager shall report to and be evaluated periodically by the IT Director or Executive Director of Finance & Operations pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the performance of the above essential job functions.
