Maryvale Preparatory School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute for Upper School Social Studies to start immediately. This is a temporary full-time exempt position. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record with experience. This position will report directly to the Upper School Head.
Responsibilities include:
· Teach upper-level social studies courses, including Global Studies and Modern World History
· Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess:
· Bachelor’s degree in history or related field required
· Experience in an independent school setting preferred
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills
· Innovative strategies for multi-sensory instruction
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents
· Eagerness to embrace the mission and values of Maryvale and our connection to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur
· A commitment to equity and inclusion and have experience working with a diverse student population
· Commitment to single sex education for young women
· Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth, and high energy level
Additional Requirements:
· Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment
· Subject to a Child Protection Services screening prior to employment
· Subject to a MSDE Employment History Review screening for Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct

Compensation for this position is $170.00 per day worked. This position is eligible for sick and safe leave benefits as well as a school dining benefit.
