Qualities of a Desired Candidate Include:
- A track record of success as evidenced by TCAP and/or EOC growth scores, student perceptions and relationships, positive communication and relationships with parents and through the strong recommendation of colleagues and supervisors
- Ability to contribute strongly to a team, collaborate with colleagues and appropriate others
- Past positive experience in leading and/or participating in a professional learning community structure focused on increasing student learning and achievement
- Understanding of pedagogy and central concepts of secondary English as defined by the TNReady State Standards and Tennessee Assessment Blueprints
- A track record of successful implementation of formative and summative assessments data analysis, with concrete progress monitoring to increase student ownership, goal setting, and communicating results with stakeholders
- Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions through action-based analysis and reflection, which impacts increased student learning
- Experience in standards-based grading and creating common assessments, lesson plans, and pacing guides with colleagues for both formative and summative purposes
- Possess confidence in learning and utilizing technology in a blended learning environment (1:1 student/device ratio) to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with students, parents, and other stakeholders (experience with Canvas Learning Management System a plus)
- Highly-motivated teacher with the ability to cognitively engage the adolescent learner and facilitate the instructional process, higher order thinking, problem solving, real- world connections for students
- Evidence of engaging in high-quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education
- Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, sitting for long periods of time, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods of time, etc.).
