JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Orchestral Activities, who reports to the Co-Director of the Insalaco School of Visual & Performing Arts, is responsible for the following assignments:
- Planning and conducting all rehearsals and concerts of the Marywood University Orchestra
- Holding auditions for the Marywood University Orchestra
- Holding hearings at the end of each semester to evaluate students’ progress and proficiency
- Ordering, renting, or borrowing scores and parts for the pieces on each concert
- Publicizing concerts through social media
- Maintaining the Orchestral Guild budget and allocating its funds
- Organizing an Orchestral Guild campaign for Giving Day
- Recruiting new string players from area schools
- Hiring guest instrumentalists or soloists when needed
