TERM/RANK & TENURE:
Full-time, 12-month, Clinical Faculty, Non-Tenured Position
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Principal Faculty member will be primarily involved with the ongoing assessment, evaluation, and development of the didactic phase of the PA program. The Principal Faculty member will teach courses in their areas of expertise. In collaboration with the Program Director and Academic Director, they will be involved with faculty recruitment, evaluation and correspondence, curriculum development, scheduling, text/resource selection, and grading.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
CURRICULUM:
- Work closely with the Program Director and Academic Director to plan the didactic phase of the program
- Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum
- Assist in review of course content and program staff/adjunct instructional faculty consultation and evaluations
- Assist with/participate in ongoing evaluation of current curriculum by developing and utilizing student feedback from surveys and interviews
- Assist with proctoring examinations/remediations as needed
- Schedule, conduct, coordinate peer faculty evaluations each semester
- Assist in the review and revisions of course learning outcomes, instructional objectives, and syllabi each semester
- Participation in faculty meetings
- Work closely with other faculty members to plan, sequence, and coordinate curriculum for the program
FACULTY:
- Provide student instruction, in areas of expertise, and as designated by the Program Director
- Proctor examinations/remediations as needed
- Evaluate student performance
- Assist in program administration, didactic, and clinical duties both on/off campus and various sites during program
- Assist in review of course content and program staff/adjunct instructional faculty consultation and evaluations
- Maintain student records of academic performance
- Attend required PA faculty, program, and curriculum meetings
- Academic counseling and advising of students throughout the academic year
- Assist in administration of PACKRAT
STUDENTS:
- Interview, recruit prospective students
- Select applicants for admission to the PA program
- Assist with information sessions/open houses offered to prospective PA students and orientation for incoming PA students
- Assuring the availability of remedial instruction
- Coordinate and compile/analyze data
- Evaluate student performance
- Coordinate and assist with group case studies and clinical skills sessions
- Manage and complete advising sessions every semester for all didactic students
PROGRAM OVERSIGHT:
- Participate in ongoing accreditation review process as assigned by the Program Director
- Evaluate the program
- Develop working knowledge of all facets of the PA Program
- Maintain working knowledge of ARC-PA standards
- Assist with faculty recruitment through periodic faculty search committees, participating with application review, interviewing, and selection process
- Mentor new PA program faculty
- Develop, review, and revise as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
- Work Experience: If a PA, currently certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Prior PA, clinical, academic, scholarship/research experience. If another health care provider, licensed and/or certified in their area of expertise.
