Overview
We are seeking a highly organized Social Services Support Specialist and compassionate to assist clients in applying for government benefits, including food stamps, Medicaid, cash assistance, and other programs. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service, navigate complex government systems, and ensure timely and accurate application submissions.
Duties
- Assist clients in applying for government benefits, including food stamps, Medicaid, cash assistance, and other programs
- Gather and verify required documentation for benefit applications
- Submit applications and supporting documents to government agencies via fax, mail, or online portals
- Coordinate with clients to schedule phone interviews with DCF (Department of Children and Families) or other government agencies
- Resolve customer issues and concerns related to benefit applications and eligibility
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, application status, and benefit eligibility
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and address client needs
- Stay informed about changes in government programs, eligibility requirements, and application processes
- Plan and execute 1-2 educational or marketing events on site per month to promote company benefits
- Track event attendance and gather feedback to continuously improve event offerings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field, such as social services, customer service, government benefits administration, or sales
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software systems
- Compassion, empathy, and understanding of the challenges faced by clients seeking government benefits
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs, including eligibility, benefits, and enrollment processes
- Proven sales experience, with ability to effectively communicate the value of our services to clients and prospects
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as low-income families, seniors, or individuals with disabilities
- Familiarity with government benefits software systems
- The position may involve working in a busy office environment with frequent phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required
