JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: High School Physical Sciences(s) Teacher
SCHOOL: MRHS
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be NH certified or in the process of obtaining NH certification in Chemistry
REPORTS TO: Building Administration
HOURS: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates and maintains a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students
Builds positive relationships with students to enhance instruction and contributes to the overall climate and culture of the school building
Plans and executes comprehensive and engaging, science courses based on the NGSS and district curriculum maps. This position has a focus on chemistry, though other courses may be part of the course load including physical science and physics.
Uses updated pedagogical practices and techniques to engage learners in science curriculum
Selects up to date and relevant resources that enhances learner understanding and helps make content material relevant to students
Utilizes current grading practices to accurately communicate mastery to students and parents
Ensures modifications and accommodations are in place for students to access science curriculums
Monitors and evaluates student performances on assessments, adjusting instructions to accommodate student learning and provide necessary re-teaching opportunities
Upholds and enforces school procedures, rules, and operations to ensure student safety
Collaborates with colleagues to plan, share, and integrate instructional goals, objectives , methods, and assessments within the Science department and across the larger school community
Communicates with parents in a professional manner to provide support/resources for student success
Participates in professional growth activities and complete a professional development plan that includes professional conferences and workshops related to best practices in the field of science education
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum- Bachelor’s Degree in area of certification or ability to attain certification
Experience working with students of middle/high school age preferred
