JOB: Special Education ParaprofessionalHiring two positions at high school and two positions at elementary schoolQUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for positions covered by this category should have, as a minimum: Must meet current Federal and State requirementsDisplay an understanding, patient, warm, and cooperative attitude toward children and other adults in the workplaceDemonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructionsThe ability to assume responsibility for supervision of the assigned student(s)The ability to learn and utilize basic teaching and motivation strategiesAn understanding and knowledge of the goals and purpose of Special EducationREPORTS TO: Building AdministratorPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESThis position includes the following duties and responsibilities, but is not limited to: To assist and support individually assigned special education student(s) with educational activities and non-teaching tasks as required by the Individualized Education Plan. Under the guidance of the Special Education TeacherAssist with small group and/or one on one facilitation of instruction provided by the Special Education TeacherSupervise classroom in the absence of the teacherMaintain confidentiality at all timesAssist in the development of instructional materials for studentsMaintain student records as outlined by the Special Education teacherOperate office machinery as necessaryPerform lunch and other duties as assignedComplete Medicaid documentation as requiredAssist with opening and end of the year closing activities as outlined in the master contractPerform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the administration/case manager/Special Education Coordinator
