JOB: Special Education Paraprofessional
Hiring two positions at high school and two positions at elementary school
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for positions covered by this category should have, as a minimum:
•Must meet current Federal and State requirements
•Display an understanding, patient, warm, and cooperative attitude toward children and other adults in the workplace
•Demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
•The ability to assume responsibility for supervision of the assigned student(s)
•The ability to learn and utilize basic teaching and motivation strategies
•An understanding and knowledge of the goals and purpose of Special Education
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position includes the following duties and responsibilities, but is not limited to:
•To assist and support individually assigned special education student(s) with educational activities and non-teaching tasks as required by the Individualized Education Plan. Under the guidance of the Special Education Teacher
•Assist with small group and/or one on one facilitation of instruction provided by the Special Education Teacher
•Supervise classroom in the absence of the teacher
•Maintain confidentiality at all times
•Assist in the development of instructional materials for students
•Maintain student records as outlined by the Special Education teacher
•Operate office machinery as necessary
•Perform lunch and other duties as assigned
•Complete Medicaid documentation as required
•Assist with opening and end of the year closing activities as outlined in the master contract
•Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the administration/case manager/Special Education Coordinator
