The HRIS Payroll Lead will support the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of Workday Payroll application. As a Workday payroll subject matter expert, you will be responsible for maintaining and configuring US payroll, payroll-related data, optimize Workday payroll processes, integrate new software, and perform diagnostic tests & validations. As a team lead, we are looking for talent that is recognized as an expert in the payroll space. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise to manage large projects or process with limited oversight from manager. Ability to interpret internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Solves difficult and often complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the design, development, and configuration of Workday payroll systems.
  • Lead the planning and execution of upgrades to the payroll system.
  • Optimize payroll processes and integrate new software solutions.
  • Collaborate with collaborators to understand business needs and implement aligned solutions.

Workday Specific Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR, payroll teams, vendors, and associates to determine strategic needs.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for payroll solutions.
  • Lead daily operational support for Workday Payroll, ensuring timely and accurate end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Evaluate new releases for improvement opportunities.
  • Develop advanced reports to support payroll processes.
  • Support and troubleshoot Tier 2 payroll system issues.

Other Responsibilities

  • Engage collaborators to collect information on payroll, timekeeping, and benefits processes.
  • Interpret information to uncover inefficiencies and gaps.
  • Lead or participate in Kaizen and HR process initiatives for service delivery improvement.
  • Identify and recommend service improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct benchmarking and research for continuous improvement.
  • Work with auditors to maintain compliance with regulations.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, HR, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Workday payroll experience.
  • Experience developing advanced Workday reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse groups.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Excellent priority setting and time management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent).
  • Passion for continuous learning.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource processes and functions.
  • Practical, analytical approach to task management.
  • Certification in business process improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
